Time Flies: Week 2

Surprise!!  We made it through the second week.  Here are some highlights:

The best part about this week was:
  • Feeling like we have somewhat of a clue.  Emphasis on somewhat.
Some things we've learned:
  • Start putting her to bed around 7 p.m..  By 9 you have changed her diaper three times and gotten rid of all the gas and topped her off enough to get those heavy eyelids to finally close for a three to four hour break from nursing.
  • On that subject, change her diaper and clothes and clean her bellybutton (and other disruptive things) before she eats.  Then use the milk coma to our advantage by putting her down with no foreseeable hurdles.
  • Mornings are our friend.
Some things we've learned the hard way:
  • Take the advice, "sleep when she sleeps".
  • Not every night will be easy!
Olivia loves:
  • Going for walks
  • Hearing our voices
  • Being outside
  • Laying on her tummy
  • Having her picture taken
Olivia surprised us when:
  • She was back to her birth weight by the start of week 2--well surpassed it, at 9 lbs, 10 oz!
  • Ben found her rolled over in her bassinet with her arm hanging out of the side.  (Here comes DSS)

Hank is warming up...He adores her from a distance and is already protective of her.

Getting acquainted with Ella under Grammy's watchful eye...

Ben on mosquito patrol at Riverfront Park.

Unfit parents pose for pictures while their child is about to unknowingly break their neck.
Good thing this unfit parent's face is cropped out...

Join us next Monday night at 11:08 p.m. to see what Olivia gets into during her third week of life.

39 Weeks Pregnant Means...

Eating oregano by the spoonful and fresh pineapple by the gallon.  Has anybody had any real luck with that inducing labor?!?!  My sister swears that pineapple did the trick for her...

Nesting...can't stop won't stop.   Projects are everywhere, and every single one is calling my name!

Taking one of these in honor of my fellow Scott outlaw, Ange.  She has been so diligent about recording her pregnancies and challenged me to take at least one picture before Baby O arrives.

Spoiling Hank.  This particular picture is me feeding peanut butter, which never gets old.  This poor dog does not know what is coming.

Monday morning he rode with us to drop me off at the office.  I opened the car door and he got right in the car seat.  I yelled at him.  Poor guy.

Watching little surprises come up from the ground.  Bulbs are so much fun to watch for this time of year!  My aunt gave us a ton of bulbs, and Ben swore that he planted them.  The proof finally showed up--ha!

Who knows, maybe I won't need to write a 40 Weeks Pregnant post!  How many of you were early, late, or right on time?

36 Weeks Pregnant Means...

Celebrating Hank's 5th Birthday.  We aren't fancy though, we both forgot until we were eating dinner, and I threw him a few sweet potato fries since he's made it 5 long years, 3 and a half of those living the bachelor life with Ben.

That deserves some type of recognition, right?

Cleaning out more drawers, and finding gems like this.  I wish it could transport me back to those truly carefree days...going to Six Flags after school most days...the life!!

Bringing Spring inside, because our Creator is just incredible!

Upping my vitamin regimen since we are down to the final four weeks.
Midwives are serious about prevention.

Packing the diaper bag.  Not packing our bag.  Sitting it by the door.  Not taking the tags off.  How much sense are we making at this point?

It is just a practice run, we are praying she will hibernate for another 4 weeks!  Although I still can't shake the thought of running around with violent contractions trying to find the gatorade I bought 2 months ago.

Yeah, we may need to finish packing.

35 Weeks Pregnant Means...

Major.  Car.  Repairs.

Savoring times like these...family dinners at my parent's house.  Nae and Mark are moving to Florida this month, and we are going to have a tough time adjusting.

MORE Major.  Car.  Repairs.

(Side Note: James 1 is true...it is easy to count pain in the butt things as joy when you are focused on watching God unfold a miracle instead of worrying and being anxious.  #whatwe'relearning)

Sitting in the nursery, praying over our girl.  Trying not to keep adding things to lists.

Enjoying SPRING!  It is azalea time, and we will take it, early or not!

34 Weeks Pregnant Means...

Unpacking gifts...
naturally, Hank thinks everything is his.

Indulging...and having only gained 13 pounds thus far, I feel no guilt.
Growing babies need to know what they have to anticipate in a few years!

Watching the lovely birth videos at our 34 week appointment...
which are intriguing and energizing---really!

Making homemade chinese...
which has a lot less junk in it, imagine that.

Enjoying more frequent walks during my 9-5 day...
and trying to prevent an unfortunate cankle situation.

33 Weeks Pregnant Means...

Stocking up on $3.99 Lumberjill outfits.
As demonstrated by her father, you can never have too many of those.

Speaking of her father, we are taking lots of time to reminisce the past 15 months
and pack in a few more memories before her big arrival.

Readying her nursery with sweet gifts from friends, the occasional thrift store find,
and a custom-built window seat made for dreaming and little imaginations.

Preparing to transition into work from home mode.
Hank has already filled the administrative assistant position.

Hammering out at least one more homemade chocolate cheesecake
to stash in the freezer for midnight feedings...er...babygirl's midnight feedings.
