While You Were In...

We first found out about you on August 10, 2011.

You were tiny, smaller than a fingernail, and you took some getting used to.
But we loved you already.

Mommy turned 25, and soon we thought it would be a good time to share our happy news!

We had fun telling our families and some friends that you were coming,
and we think they were very surprised too!

After our trip to Disney World, you were 14 weeks old,
and we revealed to the rest of the world that you were just 26 weeks away (or 28...ha!).

While celebrating Thanksgiving in Minot with your Aunt, Uncle, and cousins,
we found out you were going to have another Scott cousin!
After we got home, we celebrated your big gender reveal at the first party in your honor!

"Mustache or Bow, soon we will know!"

We were so excited to find out you were a girl,
and Daddy and Mommy were right--we thought you were a girl all along!

Here is your picture when you were 21 weeks old.

On December 10, Daddy and Mommy had our first wedding anniversary.

You grew and grew and grew.

And the Midwife told Mommy that she needed to eat salads everyday.

Your big brother Hank started to realize something was different,
and he started to do bad things to get attention.
Don't ever let him talk you into this...

But then he would feel sorry for what he did,
and come lay on Mommy's belly and listen for your heartbeat.

Pretty soon, it was time for Mommy to take her glucose test, to be sure that you weren't getting too much sugar from her salads...We had to go back for round two of tests, but we passed by the skin of our teeth!  We were so happy to know that we would definitely be having you at the Birth Center, as long as you stayed put until 37 weeks.

Daddy started building your nursery things, and Mommy began to gather other details.
Some of your Aunts and Grampy painted your nursery one Saturday.

You were filling up Mommy's belly very quickly,
and we thought you were ready to come out to meet us!

But you stayed inside and gave us lots of time to spend together.
You can see how big you were in the shadow on the sand!

But before we knew it, you were here.  One day soon I will write all about your birthday!

But today, we are so happy to celebrate our first Mother's Day together.

We love you baby girl.

We Meet Again!

I've been waiting for you...nine long-but-worth-it months.

(And yes, we bought ourselves the totally maw-maw "Mom" and "Best Dad Ever" Tervises)

And boy, was it tasty.

I'm glad I stuck to the "no artificial sweeteners and lunchmeat" rule.  I thought about my victory sub more than once during contractions...

Olivia Teagan Scott

Wow.

This girl.

Has changed.

Our lives.

Our waterbaby was born at 11:08 p.m. on April 23, 2012, at Charleston Birth Place.

8.25 lbs and 22 inches of sweet goodness.

She certainly tested us physically and emotionally, but when they handed this to us, we were over the moon.

Aren't you?

She's perfect.  Every fiber, every hair, every bump, every breath.

Little Baby O, you have so much to look forward to in this life.

You're already growing and changing and molding and making.

And teaching us a few things as you go...

"The Spirit of God has made me,
and the breath of the Almighty gives me life."
Job 33:4

Guess What?

...and she can't wait to meet you!

Olivia arrived last night at 11:08 pm after 20 hours of incredibly amazing back labor! 8.25 lbs! We pulled in the driveway at 6 am and are trying to get some sleep. More later!

Yes, I Am Still Pregnant!

We've had lots of inquiries, but trust me people, you'll know when she arrives! We had a date night tonight (half price burritos at Gringos!) and then hit Sullivan's Island to walk off the queso. I've gotta say...we've really been enjoying this last little bit of time together.  And that wasn't my real outfit...it was just freezing out at the beach.  I haven't lost all sense of pregnancy fashion.  HAH.

The feeling of having your first baby and being down to the final weeks basically feels like standing on the edge of a cliff, knowing that someone is going to push you off, but having no idea when. They say to be ready anytime between 37 and 42 weeks. The whole "due date" thing is a total farce! We have been advised that a first baby is usually a week to ten days late, not to mention that my brother was due November 14, and my mom gave birth on December 5...the rest of us followed his example pretty closely!

The pressure to deliver was starting to get to me, but I am learning to let it roll off with a laugh. Everybody is so anxious to meet this Baby O! Ben is right, he says she will arrive on her birthday. As long as God knows when, that's just fine with me!

Come back tomorrow...see what it's like to be 41 weeks along! Who else has been where I am?!

40 Weeks Pregnant Means...

"Sunning" at the beach...which gives a whole new meaning to the beached whale look.

See that lump to the left?  Yeah, those are Baby O's huge buns.  Hips don't lie, girl.

Partaking in the "big nasty pizza" as my boss likes to call it...24" worth of goodness.

Doused in oregano of course.  Which doesn't work, by they way.

Please pardon the "I've been at work all day" look.  I had been at work all day.

Celebrating freedom in Jesus over Resurrection Day...and the fact that she didn't come on one of Ben's most important days as a musician in a church.

Ben's parents brought Easter dinner to us: Roasted Lamb & made-from-scratch Mint Jelly, Ham, Red Potatoes, Fresh Green Beans, Homemade Rolls...Elizabeth's Famous CHOCOLATE PIE!!!  There was more, I can't even remember it all!  It was such a treat.

Getting the luxe treatment...or painted toenails.  Something I couldn't or wouldn't do myself.  Thanks Nae!

Trying, REALLY trying to keep on the greens.  These are from our most wonderful neighbor, Ms. B.  Her family has a farm in Ridgeville and she shares the best produce with us.  Everyone needs to know Ms. B!  (And to the left, we have the red raspberry leaf tea.  To the right, the chilled Gatorades, ready to take to the Birth Center!)

39 Weeks Pregnant Means...

Eating oregano by the spoonful and fresh pineapple by the gallon.  Has anybody had any real luck with that inducing labor?!?!  My sister swears that pineapple did the trick for her...

Nesting...can't stop won't stop.   Projects are everywhere, and every single one is calling my name!

Taking one of these in honor of my fellow Scott outlaw, Ange.  She has been so diligent about recording her pregnancies and challenged me to take at least one picture before Baby O arrives.

Spoiling Hank.  This particular picture is me feeding peanut butter, which never gets old.  This poor dog does not know what is coming.

Monday morning he rode with us to drop me off at the office.  I opened the car door and he got right in the car seat.  I yelled at him.  Poor guy.

Watching little surprises come up from the ground.  Bulbs are so much fun to watch for this time of year!  My aunt gave us a ton of bulbs, and Ben swore that he planted them.  The proof finally showed up--ha!

Who knows, maybe I won't need to write a 40 Weeks Pregnant post!  How many of you were early, late, or right on time?
